The following road remain closed until further notice:
State Highway 5 Napier to Taupo.
State Highway 1 Desert Road is now open, however road users are still advised to expect winter conditions and to take extra care.
Road users are also advised to take extra care on the following roads:
- State Highway 2 Tutira to Wairoa – flooding.
- State Highway 2 Napier to Tutira – ice.
- State Highway 2 Otoko to Matawai – ice.
- State Highway 2 Rimutaka Hill Road – winter driving conditions.
- State Highway 2 Trentham to Haywards ,Upper Hutt – black ice. Speed restrictions are in place.
In general, road users are advised to take extra care and drive to the conditions. As weather and road conditions can change rapidly and we advise people to check the latest weather and road updates before they get on the road.
