Crossings

Cycle routes will inevitably need to cross the road at some point between intersections (i.e. in the midblock area).  This may require interaction with motorised traffic and/or pedestrians. 

Crossings create a higher risk situation for cyclists than when travelling along a midblock facility.  Choosing and designing an appropriate crossing to accommodate people cycling requires careful consideration of a number of factors such as the type of  facility between intersectionsfacility between intersections and the  target userstarget users of the facility.
